With its white sand beaches, hidden coves, and the world’s largest navigable underground river, no wonder Palawan won the Travel + Leisure award for best island in the world! This phantasmagoric island also houses coral reefs with tropical fish and underwater shipwrecks that make the divers and tourists even more in love with the island.
For the Travel + Leisure’s annual survey, readers rated their experiences across 86 categories. The readers rated the islands according to their activities and sights, natural attractions and beaches, food, friendliness, and overall value. And the “rustic”, “romantic”, “affordable, and “relaxing” (as described by the readers) Palawan is a winner on the list. But it’s not its first time to be named as the world’s best island. It was ranked No. 1 in 2013.
