Home to both natural and man-made attractions, the province of Laguna is a popular destination in the Philippines, and perfect for a quick weekend getaway if you are coming from Metro Manila. You better check out these magnificent places you can visit in Laguna for your next adventure!

1. Lake Caliraya

It is a spectacular man-made lake situated in three municipalities of Laguna: Cavinti, Kalayaan, and Lumban. This lake, also known as the Caliraya Dam, was developed in 1937 to generate hydroelectric power. Lake Caliraya was built right on the Sierra Madre mountain so you look forward to refreshing mountain breeze! You can camp or trek with the squad.

2. Mount Makiling

A legendary mountain which is named after its mystical protector, Maria Makiling, is a great place for camping, hiking, and trekking.

How to get there:

By public transportation:

Ride a bus from Cubao or Buendia going to Sta. Cruz, Laguna. If you are coming from Alabang, ride a bus going to Calamba, then take a jeepney to Los Baños. Get off at Los Baños Crossing, walk towards El Danda street then ride the jeepney going to UPLB Forestry.

By private vehicle: From Manila, drive through South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) and take Calamba exit. Go to UPLB College of Forestry and find the Makiling Rainforest Park.

3. Pagsanjan Falls

The most famous natural attraction in Laguna. We’ve been hearing and seeing this falls in textbooks since elementary. You can rent a small boat to get to the falls where you can also see smaller falls, natural rock formations, and lush vegetations.

It is a burial site located beneath a church. Strange, eh? This underground cemetery is considered a national historical landmark because its underground crypt was used as a secret meeting place in 1896 by Filipino revolutionaries.

6. National Arts Center

7. Japanese Garden

It is a memorial park along Lake Caliraya in Cavinti Laguna developed by the Japanese government in the 1970s to commemorate the Japanese soldiers who died during World War II. Relax and unwind at this garden and admire the beautiful views of Lake Caliraya and Sierra Madre Mountain.

8. Nuvali

Whether you’re an adrenaline junkie, a foodie, or just an ordinary traveler, Nuvali is the ideal place for you, for it has a lot to offer. You can bird watch at the Bird Sanctuary, play sports at The Fields, walk or jog along its tree-lines, wakeboard at Republic Waterpark, admire the soothing lakeside environment, pig out on succulent food at the restaurants, and shop at the retail shops.

9. Pila Heritage Site

Reward yourself a refreshing weekend getaway after a long week of working. Sta. Elena Fun Farm is a pleasant place to have a bonding moment with your family or friends. Get closer to nature and adorable animals such as rabbits, pigs, chickens, guinea pigs and many more.

How about an aquatic adventure? Magdalena White Water Rafting in Laguna has a river that has wild rapids where you can ride a boat and navigate your way through its waves.

12. Buntot Palos Falls/ Hidden Falls

Unlock the beauty of Buntot Palos, a hidden falls in Pangil, Laguna which can be reached after an hour and a half trekking. But when you reach the 80 meters falls, your exhaustion will be replaced with amazement as you see the refreshing view of the water cascading from a big rock down to a basin where you can swim.

How to get there:

If you’re coming from Manila, take take the Sta. Cruz (Laguna) bound bus from Cubao or Pasay, or the Infanta bound bus in Legarda. If you are taking the Sta. Cruz bound bus, get off at end terminal, transfer to a jeepney bound for Siniloan and get off at Barangay Balian Outpost. Register at the outpost and ask for a guide.

13. Costales Nature Farms

How to get there:

via bus:

1. Take bus from Buendia, Cubao or Pasay to Sta. Cruz Laguna. Then ride a jeep from Sta. Cruz to Majayjay. Ride another jeep that will take you to Lucban and drop off Costales Nature Farms.

2. Take bus from Buendia, Cubao or Pasay to Lucena, then take a jeep or van from Lucena to Lucban, Quezon. From Lucban, ride a jeep or tricycle to Costales Nature Farms.

14. Sampaloc Lake

A lovely place to spend time in San Pablo City. Sampaloc Lake is no doubt the most famous lake of San Pablo City with a circular shoreline of about 3.7 kilometers and a maximum depth of 27.6 meters at the center. The panoramic view of the lake with Mount Cristobal and Mount Banahaw at the back will make you put your phone in your pocket and just appreciate the beauty of nature!
